Description
Anne, Ian, and Sean are typical siblings who squabble, but they love each other and are very supportive of each other.
Anne is an enjoyable girl with a very good sense of humor. She is sensitive and caring and enjoys playing with the babies in her foster parents' daycare. Anne enjoys basketball, making art, and riding horseback in her equine therapy. She would like to grow up to be a famous equestrian. Cerebral Palsy affects every aspect of her life, but she is able to do many things herself and tries to be as independent as possible. Anne can bathe herself, but needs help washing her hair. She wears leg braces and occasionally requires the use of a walker. Anne will be moving into an inclusion setting in middle school. She receives speech therapy to help her quality of speech and she has been encouraged to journal her thoughts. Her pediatrician monitors medication for other health issues.
Ian is a sensitive, caring, and funny little boy. He has a great sense of humor and can be very affectionate. Ian enjoys playing soccer and kickball, riding his bike, and fishing. He loves race cars and particularly enjoys derbies. Ian also loves to cook and is extremely proud of all of the dishes he can prepare. He attends regular classes at school. Ian's academic performance has been inconsistent as he struggles with staying focused and following directions. Ian also has some speech challenges that are addressed through speech therapy, but he is able to effectively communicate his wants and feelings. He is generally an obedient child who is eager to please and he tries very hard to follow the rules. Ian flourishes with positive attention and feedback.
Like his brother and sister, Sean is a sensitive and caring boy, although much more outgoing. He is described as being "an old soul" with an uncanny ability to assess situations and people. Sean's counselor says he is a very deep and solid child. He is bright and truthful and does not mince words when giving feedback. Sean's favorite activities include basketball, swimming, soccer, action figures, and remote controlled toys. He also likes to fish and be creative with his artwork. Sean attends a regular class at school where he does well, academically, but staying focused can be a challenge. Sean also requires speech therapy, but he is able to communicate effectively.
Anne, Ian, and Sean are "nervous and excited" about finding an adoptive family. They would all like other children and their own rooms. Anne would like a dog, Ian would like a bunny, a cat, a dog, and a guinea pig, and Sean is not too sure about any of them. He wants playground equipment and parents who will play games with them. Most of all, they want to stay together. An adoptive family for these children should be positive, consistent yet flexible, and most of all nurturing and loving. They will need to be aware of Anne's disability and be educated as to her needs.
