State:Arizona
Description
He thinks an ice cream is a fabulous treat; he laughs at You Tube videos and devours “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” books. He’s a regular boy named Cody; regular in every way except he needs a family.
Cody, 11, epitomizes the all American kid. He is happy-go-lucky with a positive attitude. He craves going to the movies, playing with computers and hanging out with his friends. “I just want to be a regular kid doing regular things,” he said.
Animated sci-fi movies capture Cody’s imagination. He’s always been a devoted Star Wars fan, but he now raves about the Pixar movie, Wall-e. “I liked the cockroach, he was funny. He was everywhere and he’d get run over and then get up and go on doing his thing,” said Cody. Cody has a great sense of humor and loves to smile and laugh. He is also very intrigued with programs on the History and Animal Planet channels.
A recent trip to the Big Surf Water Park was a dream come true for Cody. He is an excellent swimmer who spends much of the hot summer days in the pool. He giggled and laughed his way down swirling water slides and riding the waves in the giant pool. Cody says he and his buddies love to swim and Big Surf is the place they will come to again.
After quite a growth spurt, Cody is now getting into playing basketball. He’s tall enough to be able to hold his own with the other kids. Team sports have really helped him relate with other kids and open up socially. Cody has also expressed an interest in developing a golf game.
Cody doesn’t discriminate when it comes to pets; he has two dogs and two cats. He spends hours taking care of them and playing with them. His specialized recruiter, Amanda, says he’s developed empathy towards animals and others in need, something he didn’t always get as a young child.
When he’s hungry a trip to Taco Bell, Subway or Dairy Queen satisfies his appetite. He likes home cooking too, but has a real sweet spot for ice cream, especially Blizzards.
A good gauge as to how Cody might see himself is his love of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Cody says they’re funny and maybe he’s a bit like the main character; a regular kid trying to find his way in the world while avoiding trouble and bullies.
His recruiter, Amanda, is looking very hard for an active and involved two parent family to help stimulate Cody’s interests with pets, adventure and swimming. She thinks having a strong, positive male role model will help Cody develop into his teen years. Cody is a follower who needs consistent rules and support to keep him on track and to avoid less than positive peers and temptations. The more activities and fun things a family can do with Cody, the happier he will be. And, they will get a smiling “All American” boy in return.
