Description
Corey is not very verbal, but I am sure if he could say anything about what kind a family he wants it would be one that would allow him to continue contact with his birth sister, Freda. Corey enjoys school, playing with his string, listening to music, running, strawberry milkshakes, and daily schedules. Corey does well in school performance, but at the beginning he has a few problems dealing with changes in schedules. He has progressed with his speech and is talking more with encouragement. Corey is a happy child that has a big smile on his face all the time. He loves all types of music, but his last interest in music is Yolanda Adams. Corey does not play any organized sport, but enjoys his time outside. Corey has been a joy to work with. His smile lights up the room when he walks through the door and will make others smile by just observing him. He can be a challenge at times, but his jolly personality makes every moment worth it. Corey would probably do better in a two parent home, but if a single parent had a strong support system he would probably work in either home. Corey needs to continue to learn daily living skills to function in society. The home that chooses Corey needs to be in it for long term, because due to his disabilities there are concerns that Corey will not be able to function daily without assistance. The home that chooses Corey will also need to be willing to keep Corey’s adult sister involved in his life, via phone calls and visits from time to time. His sister lives outside of Tennessee, so her visits are limited.
