Darrell is a friendly and happy teenager. He is active and enjoys playing outside shooting hoops. He loves to participate in organized recreational activities and likes being around other children. He likes playing on the computer and with interactive toys. He also enjoys having books read to him. He has good manners and likes helping out. He likes eating pizza and likes to play with balls. Darrell is a special boy who is legally deaf. He is non-verbal and communicates through gestures. He is working with a speech therapist to address his communication needs. He also is blind in one eye, and is receiving special services through his school district. Recently, he has made much progress and was moved into a more advanced life skills class. He is leaning new things and is able to complete activities of daily living. Occasionally he may need some assistance. One of Darrell's strengths includes being very organized. He likes keeping things in order and in neat fashion. Darrell has some medical issues that require visits to his physician. He is frequently monitored to ensure his conditions remains stable. His new family will need to be prepared to work long-term with outside professionals to assist his development to his fullest potential.
