Description

Known for his big bright smile, De'Qun is an energetic youngster who is usually on the go. Action heroes, like Superman, Spiderman, and Batman captivate his interest, but the Incredible Hulk is his favorite. De'Qun loves to read and enjoys reading aloud to others. Sweet, loving, and always ready to give others hugs are just a few of the characteristics that make him unique and special. Although De'Qun gets along best with adults, he has some difficulty maintaining close friendships with children his own age. He enjoys engaging in all types of indoor and outdoor sports, but finds it hard to stay on task while playing. His favorite foods include pizza, but his favorite place to eat is McDonalds. De'Qun continues to make strides and improvements in the area of staying on task and following directions. Positive reinforcement and redirection helps him realize his wrongdoings and helps diminish negative behaviors. Counseling sessions help him understand boundaries and how adventurous behaviors can be harmful to him. De'Qun is eager to be apart of a loving family and wants only that his adoptive family be fun to be with and nice to him.

De'Qun has expressed wanting a mom and a dad and would like them to be really nice. A non-traditional home could also provide the security and love De'Qun needs. The family should be experienced in the areas of redirection, positive reinforcement, and boundaries. A family for De'Qun must be open to him having contact with his sibling, who will not be placed with him. Structure, routine, and consistency are needed to help De'Qun adjust to a new family and environment. He would do well in a family with older children.
