Description
Donnell desires to be placed with a male figure so that he can do “manly stuff”. Donnell wants to live life worry free. Donnell likes to play video games and likes to learn about history of America. Donnell is not athletically inclined, but enjoys going to football & basketball games. Donnell favorite sport is dodge ball.
At school Donnell is in a self contained special ed. classes with an eligibility of language impaired and receives speech therapy through the public school system. Donnell does well in school and of average intelligence for his functioning. Donnell reads on 1st grade level and does not perform at grade level in math. Donnell has a difficult time making decisions based on his needs and becomes frustrated after a long period of time. Donnell does receive individual counseling to address adjustment and psychiatric management.
Donnell is placed in a single parent home, due to significant progress noted in previous placements vs. two parented. Foster parent reports that Donnell is a sweet child that needs constant supervision and instruction. Foster parent states that if aging was not a factor, Donnell would be in his adoptive home.
Donnell’s teacher reports that Donnell is a loving and easy to get alone individual. Donnell displays classroom mannerism, is well groomed, is well dressed and shows a caring spirit towards his peers.
This family service worker's view of Donnell is as a young adolescent that will need continued guidance, love, nurturing, and equipped to handle a special needs child. Donnell has come from a long history of neglect, abuse and mental illness. Donnell has made tremendous progress in a single parented home. He is developing coping skills that will be a vital part in his life span. Donnell has a very loving character that warms the heart of any individual. Donnell has developed good socialization skills with peers of his age group, but need to be supervised when around other children his age and younger.
Donnell need a strong single male figure that is able to handle a mild mentally retarded child. Donnell adoptive home should have no more than one other male young adolescence same age or close, but not younger. Donnell likes to stay busy. Donnell has eight siblings, all which are placed in separate homes because of inappropriate sexual behaviors towards one another. Donnell will need continued counseling, medication management, structure, and a single male that can set limits.
