Description

Heather Gracie is non-verbal, and has no voluntary mobility. Heather is a very sweet and loving child who can melt your heart when you first meet her. Heather does not show any response to voice (sound) nor to touch. However she does cry every time there is any type of transitionwhen picked up, when laid down, and when she is given a bath. She does not play with toys and is unable to interact. Heather does exhibit sporadic bursts of laughter. Heather has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, blindness, profound mental retardation, and epileptic seizure disorder, and global developmental delay. Heather has spastic quadriplegia, gastric reflux disorder; reactive airway disease which causes her to use a nebulizer (breathing treatment), and has a G-tube for feedings (gastrostomy). Heather needs to be placed with a family who will be willing and able to devote their time and energy caring for Heather. Due to her medical condition, she requires 24-hour care and supervision. Heather's caregiver(s) should have been trained or be willing to participate in training, and demonstrate the ability and knowledge required to care for special needs children and/or children with disabilities.
