Description
Isaiah is an African American youngster who needs to find his way into the right family – one he can depend on forever. He is an average student in regular education classes, and his abilities are on task with his age. Isaiah is a real fan of video games. He enjoys a lot of praise but sometimes has a difficult time expressing his feelings. When troubled, he will shut down and act as if he does not hear what is being said to him and will not respond to directives during this time. It may take several prompts to motivate him into resuming his previous activity. Even though he was not the oldest child in his birth family, he was treated as the oldest and has had difficulty giving up this role. Isaiah is currently working on processing his grief and loss issues through therapy. He is very connected to his birth family, and his new family should be willing to facilitate contact and visits with his siblings. He will do well in an environment where he is the oldest child in the home as he is most comfortable in this role. Isaiah will benefit from having parents who are strong role models – parents that are patient and nurturing and know how to set firm but reasonable, consistent boundaries for a child.
