Description
John is a happy and friendly little boy. He loves animals. John also enjoys video games; playing with his legos, trucks and trains. He has to be encouraged to play outside as he really loves to watch television. John enjoys being a helper at home and at school. He is motivated to make friends and he likes to play and have fun. John receives special assistance at school. He is unable to read at this time but does know his alphabet. John is working hard to stay on target. He enjoys going to school but does need help to pay attention or sit still. John states that his favorite subjects are recess and lunch. He has no concept of time and his short term memory functions poorly. He has been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Effects/Syndrome. John can appear to learn something one day and the next day he has completely forgotten it. He needs help to respect other's personal space. He can not be left unsupervised for more than a few minutes and he can not be unsupervised around other children. John has a very active imagination and it overtakes many of his thoughts and actions. He is working on learning to accept responsibility for his actions and to know right from wrong.
John needs a well-experience parent who will be able to provide unconditional love, strong boundaries, patience and consistent care. John will require extra attention and supervision. His family will need to encourage him each step of the way. John has two brothers who will be placed separately into adoption. He wishes to maintain contact with them through cards, letters or supervised visitation. John should be the youngest or only child still in the home.
