Kristine is an 8-year-old girl from Virginia who is hoping to be adopted.

Kristine is a six-year-old Caucasian female with blond hair and blue eyes. She has an identical twin sister. Kristine and her sister are limited in their ability to verbalize their wants and needs. The both use hand over hand assistance, picture cards and some sign language to communicate. Kristine enjoys music and books. She also enjoys engaging in some interactive play with her sister and with peers. Ariel enjoys exploring the feeling of different textures, doing gymnastic type activities and some interactive play with her sister and with peers. They both can follow simple directions with prompts and respond well with positive redirection. They are in Kindergarten and receive special services to facility their educational needs. During school, they have a one-to-one aide, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Both of the girls are making progress towards some verbalization and is learning to complete some activities of daily living such as dressing, eating and tooth brushing. With continued support and encouragement, it is possible that Kristine will be to communicate verbally in the future. The girls require close supervision on a 24-hour basis to ensure safety.
