Description
Kenan is an affectionate, outgoing, and talkative young man with very good manners and a terrific sense of humor. He is affectionate, kind, and likes to be helpful to other people. Kenan enjoys watching the Discovery Channel and watching or playing just about any sport. He would like to join the Army, learn to cook, and drive a truck.
Kenan attends special resource classes at school where, with the help of a personal aide, he is better able to maintain acceptable behavior and functions higher than the other children in his classroom. Kenan also has a community support worker that takes him out into the community and spends time with him after school. He gets a great deal of reinforcement and support from his foster family and is very compliant and cooperative at home. Kenan is getting better at controlling his actions when he is upset.
Kenan's adoptive family must understand his need for praise and rewards for even very small positive actions. They should have or receive training in behavior management and provide him with structure, support, redirection, and constant supervision. Kenan also needs to continue contact and visits with his sisters and his foster family, as they are very close.
