Kenny (09/90) is a very personable young man. He is articulate and well-mannered and very active in extra-curricular school activities, such as, cheerleading, weight lifting, and track. He also enjoys playing football and basketball. He has plans to college after graduation. Kenny lived with his maternal grandmother and maternal aunt until he was fourteen years old. His grandmother’s health problems were severe and his aunt was unable to continue to care for him. Kenny has not been used to male authority figures or role models in his life. He is adjusting to having these in his foster placements. Kenny is ambivalent about being adopted. He is beginning to see that he can love his birth family and an adoptive family too, but doesn’t yet realize how much support he will need after he graduates from high school. Kenny wants to take things slowly and stay in the area where he is in order to finish school before going off to college.
