Description
Keyona is a friendly and outgoing teenager with a big, bright, beautiful smile. She is an articulate young woman capable of expressing herself very well. Keyona is a responsible and compassionate young woman and described by many adults as a born leader. She utilized this special gift by recently serving as the basketball manager of her school’s girl’s team. Keyona is also very active with the LINKS program and is currently serving on their board. She likes to write and has written plays, poetry and songs. She also likes to sing and can play the cello, violin, and keyboard. Keyona enjoys extra curricular activities at school, such as dance. Music is obviously important to Keyona and she enjoys listening to it as she falls asleep at night. She is proud of having been recommended to work as a page with the Legislature in Raleigh this summer. Keyona’s career goal at this time is to become a nurse and possible an obstetrician. She definitely has the potential to achieve whatever she sets her mind to.
Keyona attends regular classes at school. Counseling and the positive relationship she has with her foster mom are helping her learn to develop and maintain good peer relationships.
Keyona says that she is at a very good place in her life, both emotionally and academically, and can be successful in a family setting. An adoptive family for her should have experience with teenagers and an understanding of children in foster care. Keyona does not care for animals and would prefer a family without pets. An adoptive family for Keyona should provide her with a stable, nurturing environment, along with love, structure, support, and consistent boundaries. Her daily phone contact and consistent visits with her birth sisters is very important to Keyona and should be respected and continued.
