Description

Ky and Malik look up to big brother, Michael, and try to emulate everything he does. These three terrific boys want a forever family to adopt them all together. Ky is a very outgoing and energetic boy who is liked by everyone he meets. He is usually happy, loving, and sporting a wonderful smile. He has a great personality and enjoys being helpful around his foster home. More than anything else, Ky loves to play basketball with his brothers and friends. He also enjoys playing video games and going to the beach. His teachers say Ky is a joy to teach because he loves to learn and always puts forth his best effort. He has improved his grades and currently earns A’s and B’s. Ky has worked very hard to improve his behavior and to think before he acts. Michael is a handsome, friendly boy with a great smile. He gets along well with other kids as well as with adults. Michael is quite a basketball player and playing on his school’s team has dramatically increased his self esteem. He also enjoys participating in the LINKs program, playing video games, and talking to his girlfriend. He also likes to help coach his younger brother’s basketball team. Michael has done a complete turn-around with his behaviors and “come out of his shell”, since coming into foster care. While he is a teenager with the occasional teenage attitude, Michael seems to have fewer issues than most teens not in care. He attends regular classes at school where he has become involved in the Independent Living program. Thanks to the motivation provided by his foster parents, Michael is very proud that he has raised his grades from low and failing to A’s and B’s. Like many big brothers, Michael can sometimes be a bit of an instigator with Ky. Counseling is helping Michael continue to make progress and sort out feelings and past issues. Malik is a bright and energetic boy with an adorable smile, which he knows how to use. He is usually easy-going and gets along well with other kids. Malik loves the outdoors and playing basketball with his brothers. He also likes to draw and play video games. Malik has an above average intellect and his grades would likely reflect that if he were more academically challenged. Staying focused and in compliance with his conduct is difficult because of the lack of interest in his work. Counseling is helping Malik deal with anxiety about his future and he has made a great deal of progress with his behaviors. Michael remembers what his life was like before foster care and he is thrilled that all he has to worry about now are the general day-to-day things that concern everyone else. The relief of living in their foster home has had a tremendous impact on Ky, Michael, and Malik and they can’t wait to find an adoptive family and feel safe and settled. They will all benefit from the stability, consistency, structure, and support they receive now. Ky, Michael, and Malik are wonderful kids who are sure to bring a lot of love and life into their forever family. They have a sister who has been adopted in another state with whom they need at least frequent verbal contact.
