Description
Mark is an exceptional child who advances in everything in which he sets his mind. He refuses to let Cerebral Palsy (CP) be a stop sign for him. Mark has accepted that there are some speed bumps due to CP but he chooses to use his wheelchair to run them over full speed ahead. Mark is an encouragement to those around him. He enjoys physical activities, excels in his academics and he looks forward to a full life. Mark loves to swim and can stay in the pool forever. He enjoys attending summer camps and participating in extracurricular activities and organizations. Mark has done something that many other children have not. He enjoyed skiing on a memorable ski trip. Mark is active but he like his down time. He enjoys video games and is very competitive. Mark, like most children loves being on the computer. He is very smart. Mark continues to participate in Talented and Gifted Programs in school. He is serious about his academics and plans on going to college.
Mark requires parents who will assist him in living a full life while focusing on his abilities. Mark will do well in a home with structure, activities, appreciation for academics, resourcefulness, love and achievements. It is important that his parents be partners in his education to assure that he receives the aide needed. His family will also be willing to make modifications to allow Mark the ability to move about in his wheelchair independently.
