Melonie is a friendly youth, who can be shy when you first meet her. She loves to talk and is able to bond and attach. She is very smart and knows what she wants out of life. Melonie is looking forward to going to college and she works hard in school. She is an active teen who enjoys dancing, basketball and track. She is very artisitc and loves to sing. Melonie also participates in 'stepping' classess at school. Melonie is repectful of adults but does get defensive when she is accussed of something and not allowed to discuss her actions or involvement. Melonie is sensitive and wants to be heard and listen to. Melonie is a typical teenager, she does not like to have her telephone privileges taken from her and she likes to hang out with her friends. Melonies' caseworker states that she has a wonderful personality and is fun to be around. The caseworker reports that Melonie loves to laugh and be silly like a teenager, but she can also be serious and knows what she wants in life. Melonie's foster parents said that Melonie is bright and has a wonderful future ahead of her as long as she works through her anger.

Melonie express that she really wants an adoptive family to see and know her now, not to judge her by her past. She has come so far in the past year and continues to see that good things can happen if you keep trying. Melonie needs a very structured and loving adoptive family. Melonie will do well as an only child; she will also do well in a family with younger school aged children as she is a good role model and likes being a big sister.
