Description
Ray is a quiet and shy young man when he first meets people, but when he is comfortable he opens up and can be quite talkative. His big beautiful smile can light up a room and his dry sense of humor can catch you completely off guard. Ray enjoys dressing nice and prefers the “preppy” style of clothing. He is extremely athletic and loves sports, especially football, basketball, and track. Ray’s dreams and goals include attending college and eventually playing football in the NFL.
Ray is in the occupational tract at school, although he and his treatment team would like to move him to a tract that includes college. Ray has expressed an interest in music, sports, and architecture for his secondary goals. He earns very good grades and has made the honor roll twice this year. Sports are a great incentive to help him maintain those good grades. Ray continues to work on improving social skills, managing his feelings, and building peer relationships.
Ray needs a two-parent family with a strong male role model, or a single male that can also be nurturing and provide him with structure, consistency, and patience. Ray’s adoptive family needs to be prepared to advocate for his education and learn to navigate the exceptional children’s program. They should be active and encourage Ray’s continued involvement with sports and provide him with opportunities to become independent.
