Shane's smile really lights up a room. One has only to spend a few minutes with him to see that he is friendly, full of energy and lots of mischievousness! Shane is a bright, intelligent young child who does very well in school. Shane loves Texas A&M and hopes to be adopted by a family that will help him attend college there some day. He enjoys all sports, especially football and dreams of playing in high school and for the Aggies! Shane also likes pets and would like to be able to have a parrot that he could train to ride around on his shoulder some day. Shane has lots of energy and sometimes needs help channeling that energy in positive directions. He needs supervision with peers and works best in settings where adults can help him to sort out conflict and avoid confrontations. Shane is very aware of his environment and tends to be hyper vigilant regarding safety and is protective of his ideas and his space. A family with parenting experience of older children would be best suited to meet Shane's needs. He would do well with siblings who are older than he and any family who adopts Shane should not plan to add younger children to the family for quite some time. A rural setting where Shane would have lots of room to run, explore and otherwise use up some of his energy and inquisitiveness would be preferred. A family for Shane will be able to provide him with a consistent routine and consistent, logical consequences for misbehavior. Shane's family should also plan to involve and support him in extracurricular activities and sports, especially football!
