She likes attending church, swimming at the beach, shopping at the mall, playing board & card games, and braiding hair. Sherika hopes to become a cosmetologist and have her own salon.
Sherika attends mainstream classes where it is a challenge for her to keep up with the class. She is an intelligent girl who works hard, but needs to learn to ask for help when she doesn't understand something. Since moving into her current foster home, she has made progress in many areas. She is learning appropriate methods of expressing her feelings and thinking before she acts.
Sherika has been in her current home longer than anywhere else and has learned how important it is to live in a nurturing, caring family. She needs a family that will provide her with the emotional support and security that will allow her to feel safe and productive in a positive way. Sherika needs a lot of individual attention and would likely do best with a single female parent as the only child, but an older child could be a positive role model. Her adoptive family should have strong parenting skills and provide her with consistency and structure.
