Photolisting Profile for Travis
Travis
Description
Travis is 13-years-old. Here’s what he would like you to know about him.
His favorite things:
Monopoly, game boy, onion rings, and ice cream.
What we want families to know about him:
Travis has a delightful smile and a good sense of humor. He is a young man who keeps his word and expects others to do the same. He is considered to be on the high-end of the autism spectrum and has many of the associated challenges, including sensory issues.
Because of his sensory needs, Travis will need an alternative school placement where his special challenges can be effectively addressed. Currently, he is almost at grade level academically and is capable of attending college in the future.
Sleep can be a challenge for Travis. In the past, he has responded well to having a dog that could be on alert for him while he sleeps.
Travis does best when he is surrounded by rule-conscious peers who are able to keep up with him intellectually. He needs careful supervision, however, due to his curiosity with electronic devices.
After three years in a residential facility, Travis is ready for a family and is eager to meet parents who can support and love him.
What we are seeking in a family for him:
Travis needs parents who are familiar with autism and who can provide the routine and structure that supports his growth and learning. Travis’ parents will need to be able to develop a trusting relationship with him through consistency. And balance his daily routines with play.
Travis is expected to be successful with parents who are patient and understanding; able to provide clear, consistent boundaries; willing to participate in recommended trainings and therapy sessions; willing to work cooperatively with his school, therapists, and others; and able to provide the nurturing and love that will allow him to thrive.
