Description
Tyler is a happy, active, and energetic boy who loves to be involved in whatever activity is taking place. According to his caseworker, Tyler is “a special, positive child.” He loves to help with the adult chores, especially cooking. Tyler loves all sports and especially likes to play basketball, participate in activities at the park, and eat all types of food. He was excited to take swimming classes during the summer and go to the pool twice a week.
Tyler attends a specialized classroom at school where he is learning how to manage his daily activities to help him better manage his life. Information must be provided to him visually and in simple, concrete ways. Tyler has made remarkable progress since moving to his current home, but he needs to remember to let the adults have the last word. Therapy helps him in areas of speech and coordination.
A family with patience, compassion, and reasonable expectations would be best for this child. Tyler loves praise and likes to please others. He needs a family that can surround him with love, support, and stability so that he feels cared for and safe. His foster mom says that Tyler would like a two-parent family, as he wants to be close to males. The family should be prepared to advocate for him with the school system to assure that he receives all of the resources and assistance he requires to be successful.
