Weldon is a 15-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Playing outside, riding his bike, singing karaoke and dancing are a few activities that Weldon enjoys participating in. A little boy with varied problems, he has Cornelia DeLange Syndrome and is a little small for his age. Sporting a great big smile and beautiful blue eyes, Weldon enjoys playing with Legos, cars, trains and anything he can manipulate with his hands. He can go hours playing with these toys if he is otherwise undisturbed. Weldon prefers to play independently, and does not play well with peers. Unwanted interaction can lead to temper outbursts and running away from the others. He can be very easy to talk with and is easy to understand. He is an alert youngster, always aware of what is going on around him. He enjoys making people laugh and can be quite a character. He does best with men in the family, and tends to be more difficult for women to deal with his actions. Weldon does a good job when it comes to eating, dressing and grooming himself. He occasionally needs to be redirected to take a shower or brush his teeth, but normally he is cooperative and obedient. He enjoys baths and they tend to calm him down when he is moody or his behaviors become disruptive. He needs a structured environment with constant supervision. Although he does not have many academic skills, he can identify numbers and letters. Reading and math are Weldon's primary classes along with a Life Skills curriculum. Weldon is capable of establishing substantial attachments and expressing affection. His prognosis is good with a structured, committed and predictable family environment. Weldon is a child with very special needs. A family for him will need to be patient and understanding of those needs and provide a structured and stable family environment. Weldon's adoptive family will need the capacity to seek out and constructively utilize outside consultations from counselors and other appropriate professionals as needed.
