Photolisting Profile for Alexus
Alexus is a 16-year-old girl from North Carolina who is hoping to be adopted.
Alexus is a sweet child with a bright smile and positive attitude. According to her foster mom, she is a joy to parent and an absolute angel. Alexus loves outdoor activities such as horseback riding, swimming, and hiking. She attends two camps during the summer and really enjoys participating in the activities. According to the adults who know her well, Alexus is the easiest child to be around. She is open, loving, giving, and is excited about everything life has to offer.
Alexus attends a special resource class with other deaf children. The small class size allows her to work at her own level and continue improving her sign language skills. Her teacher says that Alexus works very hard at everything she does and is a pleasure to teach. She has surprised many people with her strong desire to learn and grow. She has a progressive illness that requires constant monitoring and medical care. Alexus' biggest emotional challenge is feeling excluded from conversations.
Because of her hearing loss, it is important that an adoptive family for Alexus be proficient in sign language. It would be ideal if other family members also were deaf or had a profound hearing loss. An active and outgoing family that will involve Alexus in their family outings and provide her with stimulating new experiences would be wonderful. Her adoptive family should provide Alexus with boundaries, structure, nurturing, and plenty of individual attention.
