Anthony is an African- American teenager born in March 1992. This young man is beginning to identify his areas of interest and who is concentrating on mastering the skills needed to turn interest into opportunities for success in the future. Anthony is receiving special educational services while attending a charter school where he is developing his culinary skills. He also plans to take advantage of their electrician program while taking the high school courses needed for further education. Anthony has had the trauma of being removed from his birth family twice. He was first removed from his mother at the age of five due to abandonment. Anthony was placed in foster care for several years and, subsequently, in 2001 he was reunified with his father. One year later Anthony was removed from his father due to physical abuse. He has been in licensed care since that time. Anthony has several mental health diagnoses for which he is receiving therapy and prescribed medication. Anthony is placed in a licensed therapeutic group home where he receives on site therapeutic services while participating in school and community activities.Anthony experienced an additional loss and rejection three years ago when his younger sister was placed permanently in the home of a relative who felt she could not meet Anthonys special behavioral needs. Though they now live out of state, Anthony maintains some phone contact with his sister. Anthony has stabilized significantly over the past year and he has enthusiastically participated in adoption events. He can best be described as a gentle giant. Anthony would blossom in a two parent home where he would get the nurturing and one on one attention he has never had.
