Ayanna

Ayanna is a 7-year-old girl from California who is hoping to be adopted.
Children who have significant delays often have a difficult time being seen or heard and – even more than other children – need someone else to be their voice. Ayanna is such a child, and needs a special family to adopt her. She is non-verbal and has some very involved conditions such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, visual impairments, and seizures. Due to some of her conditions, she requires specialized feeding. In spite of all her challenges, Ayanna has a lot of spice and spunk. She is able to communicate in her own special way using body language, some vocalizations, and facial expressions. Although she is unable to walk, Ayanna has become skilled at using her wheel chair and she uses her other senses to compensate for visual impairments in negotiating her environment. Ayanna knows her name and responds when you say it. It may take her a little while to get comfortable around a new person, but when she does she’s likely to extend her own type of invite for her new friend to sing along to some of her favorite music. Ayanna is a very special child who needs a safe and permanent family and we don’t want her left behind. We are looking for a uniquely caring and capable family who can embrace Ayanna with unconditional love, stability, protection, patience and understanding as she grows and develops at her own pace.
