Barry is a quiet and kind boy who gets great satisfaction from helping others. He loves to help with household projects, such as moving furniture and mowing the lawn. Barry works as a junior staff member at the local Boys and Girls Club and enjoys it very much. Like most teenage boys, Barry is particular about his clothing and wants it to be color coordinated and the same style as his peers. Barry attends a public school for children with special needs. He is making very good progress with the additional assistance that is helping him fill the gaps of his basic educational foundation. Barry also needs assistance in developing acceptable social skills. While he is doing well with his therapist, Barry's limited verbal skills make the process move slower than would normally be expected. They must be able to provide a highly structured environment with very close supervision. An adoptive family for Barry will need to be strong advocates in securing and maintaining his educational and mental health needs.
