Carmelita is a 17-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Carmelita is an adorable and loving teenager who is all smiles. She enjoys playing games, riding her bike, watching television and coloring. She also enjoys swimming, skating and listening to music. Carmelita is resourceful and persistent when verbalizing her wants and needs. She is the most outgoing of her siblings and likes to also verbalize their wants and needs. Carmelita can become quiet and non-responsive when she is upset. Carmelita often does not understand what is being said therefore, she can become very frustrated. She is working on this but needs to be closely monitored when she is frustrated. She interacts much better with adults who have are patient versus her own peers. Carmelita also receives special assistance at school in order to achieve her full educational potential. She makes A's and B's in her classes.
Carmelita and Linda enjoy spending time together. They show a great deal of love and caring toward one another. They are strongly bonded and very loyal to one another. Carmelita and Linda have very distinctive personalities of their own and each loves individual time and attention from their caregivers. They both enjoy dancing and listening to music. Carmelita is a very active and outgoing child who appears resourceful and can verbalize her needs, feelings, and wants very clearly. Linda has a very pleasant personality. She can be quiet until she gets to know you and she looks toward her sister for guidance.
Carmelita will benefit in a family who has empathy and patience, and will establish clear rules and expectations, predictable routines, setting boundaries, en enforcing consequences with love and positive reinforcement. She will do well with a family who is patient with her as she adjusts, is consistent, and has experience working with youth with special needs. She will benefit from an active, loving family, who will share lots of family fun and values with her, as well as a family who is willing to nurture and guide her into adulthood.
