Description
Charlie is a handsome, loving, and helpful young man. He has a terrific imagination, but can be serious at times, too. Charlie is outgoing and can be quite talkative while also being polite and mannerly. He enjoys playing with Matchbox cars, video games, drawing, and collecting things. Charlie also likes to play soccer, basketball, and football. He is quite creative and likes art and music.
Charlie attends special resource classes where he has received the additional attention he needs to be successful and maintain good grades. While he does not currently work at grade level, he has made very good progress and the goal is to transition him into mainstream classes before he moves on to middle school. Speech therapy is helping Charles speak more calmly and counseling has significantly helped him learn to express his feelings and frustrations in an appropriate manner. Charles now exhibits increased self-control and any previously aggressive behaviors have ceased.
Charlie will benefit from an adoptive family that can provide him with affection and nurturance. He will do best with people who are patient and will not rush him to do things, and who can help him be more organized. Charlie has not learned to entertain himself for any length of time, so an active family that will help him develop new interests will be ideal. He will thrive in a family that provides him with structure, consistency, and logical consequences. Charlie has two brothers with whom he has monthly visits and contact and it is important that this be encouraged to continue.
