Photolisting Profile for Chelsea

Chelsea is a 17-year-old girl from Tennessee who is hoping to be adopted.
Chelsea longs for a “normal life” and for a family. Chelsea's primary difficulties are in her relationships with others, both peers and caretakers. She demonstrates difficulty with social boundaries and is prone to attach too easily to others. She has quite intense dependency needs which may trigger behaviors that others find uncomfortable or difficult. She is hypersensitive to signs of threat in relationships and may overreact to perceived signs of threat of rejection with impulsive emotionally or engaging others in conflict. This reaction sometimes results in her running away from the situation by running away from the placement. She engages in attention seeking behaviors, such as making up stories to gain sympathy or interest, which are likely to backfire. While she is impulsive and shows some evidence of hyperactivity and distractibility she is not ADHD. Her symptoms in this area do not interfere with her good academic functioning. She has much strength. She is intelligent, academically capable, attractive, energetic, motivated to pursue a career (child psychologist or physical therapist) and strongly interested in finding a family. Previous caretakers have stated that Chelsea is very smart, outgoing and a very loving person. As Chelsea's Case Manager I believe that she would fit best in a single parent home with no children. Problems seem to arise when she has to share attention with other people like other children or males. The single parent should not have a boyfriend. If it was a two parent home the couple would definitely need to be married and willing to work with her and her needs. There should be no more than one child of the same sex and around the same age. The parent should be willing to allow Chelsea to see her siblings and continue her ongoing counseling that she may need for the rest of her life.Disclaimer
