Photolisting Profile for Cheyenne
Cheyenne is a 7-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
"Pretty in pink" describes this precious little girl! Cheyenne loves anything the color of roses! This unique and special child is diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder that manifests itself in a variety of ways including developmental delays and neurological problems. Cheyenne has difficulty recognizing normal social cues and situations. She may laugh or cry at seemingly inappropriate times. She is unable to recognize consequences to her actions and cannot recognize potentially dangerous situations on her own. Cheyenne will need close and constant supervision throughout her lifetime. She needs assistance with daily care and hygiene and requires special education and therapeutic interventions to help her succeed. Although she can communicate verbally, Cheyenne is learning sign language as an additional way to express herself. She needs a family who will appreciate her sweet smiles and laughter! Cheyenne needs a family who can provide consistent boundaries and routines. She needs a family willing to make a lifetime commitment to her care. Cheyenne's ideal family will be patient and able to devote much one on one attention to her. Due to allergies, Cheyenne is unable to be placed in a home with animals. Cheyenne's family must be able to faithfully provide her with love in a nurturing and safe environment, but with the understanding that her ability to return affection or show attachment to others is compromised as a result of the symptoms of Angelman Syndrome.
