Christa is a 15-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Christa participates in church choir and plays the baritone in the school band. She loves to do puzzles when indoors but really enjoys being outdoors on her roller blades or scooter. Christa also participates in karate as an extracurricular activity. She is active in church and youth group activities. She enjoys bible school and church camp. Christa can be very outgoing, friendly and talkative. Christa wants to be adopted and said she doesn't care where she goes as long as she can have a permanent family. She is very close to a family that she lived with for a long time and even though they can not adopt her, she desires to have some contact with them. Christa craves acceptance but doesn't always know how to go about getting that acceptance. She is very positive and focuses on the things that are good. She will always tell you the positive things, sometimes even more than they are. She doesn't like to address her mistakes, she would rather pretend they didn't happen. Christa is learning how to be responsible with her chores. Most of the time, she is helpful around the house and helpful with the younger children in the home. She loves the dogs and likes to take care of them and is really happy when one gets to sleep in her room with her. She feeds them and takes them on walks. She likes books and music. Her favorite subject in school is science. She likes school and is always excited to share what she is studying in all her classes. She really wants to do well in school and is very receptive to any extra help she can receive. She can often struggle with staying focused and staying on top of her assignments and then turning them in. She made tremendous progress during the past school year. Christa, when young, experienced limited movement on her left side and went through extensive physical therapy. She does have weak upper body strength and fine motor delays but nothing that inhibits her day-to-day abilities and functions. Christa needs a family who will be loving, patient and supportive of her behavioral and emotional needs. She needs parents who can help her to organize and focus to stay on top of the common daily tasks to help her succeed. She needs unconditional love and acceptance to help her build trust and know that she is a person of worth. She needs patience and guidance to learn how to form relationships and nurture them in an appropriate way.
