Corey is a 13-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Corey likes to play with toys that have lights and that are colorful. Corey will play with the same toy for an extended period of time if he is allowed. Corey laughs when he is tickled. He does not like to wear clothes when he is at home. He will wear his diaper and a t-shirt. Corey is diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome. He has numerous health concerns such as: G-Tube, a By-Pap machine for upper respiratory difficulties and is legally blind. Corey is able to walk on his own without or little assistance. Corey is seen by several doctors to monitor his conditions and his numerous medications. Corey also uses a walker to walk with supervision. Corey is developmentally delayed and is mentally limited. Corey receives Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy through his school. Through Physical therapy, he has learned to walk and use his a Vision cane for loss of vision. De to his G-tube, he requires a liquid diet. Corey cannot participate in physical activities without assistance and is in need of constant adult supervision. He enjoys the outdoors and loves to swing. Corey likes bright lights,colors and shiny objects.Corey has shown that he is able to bond within a family setting. Corey is autistic and thus requires a limit on the stimulus within his environment. Corey is also tactile defensive and does not like to be touched unless he initiates the touching. Corey is in need of a family who is trained to tend to his medical needs and who are familiar with the different services that correspond to his medical conditions. Corey requires and needs constant adult supervision. The adoptive parent and teachers should encourage activities that promote Corey's social and emotional well-being.
