Dakota is a 3-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Dakota smiles and laughs a lot. He is a happy child most of the time. He loves his foster parents and gets especially excited when his foster father comes home. He likes to play with his siblings and has begun to initiate play with his peers. He still struggles with how to interact positively with peers and his siblings, so frequently prefers to play alone. He has learned how comforting hugs and kisses from his family can be and has begun to initiate affection and accept comforting. He can also be put off by close physical contact. Dakota can walk, run and climb wherever he wants to go, especially if it involves a game of catch. He can repeat words and has at least a 10 word vocabulary. He has done well in pre-school and enjoys going. Dakota can become very frustrated, very fast and this may involve a tantrum. This behavior is also improving in that his tantrums are much shorter and less severe.

Brittany, Caleb, and Dakota have great potential and will need hands on teaching with patience and consistency to help them grow. The children will be a wonderful addition to a family who is able to meet the children's need for structure and consistency. Brittany's family will need to maintain a great deal of predictability and consistency. Caleb is bonded to his foster parents and will grieve for them when he moves.
