David is a calm, friendly, and independent boy. Although he is non verbal, David can convey his feelings well. He will get your attention and point to what he wants or the direction he wants to go. He fidgets or squirms when he does not get his way. David can be impatient, interrupting, or intrude in others space to get attention. Overall David is very lovable. David is a child with Down Syndrome and Autism. David has limitations in his ability to function in areas of daily life such as self-care and communication. David is able to dress himself, feed himself, and loves to jump. He is able to recognize very simple pictures and point to the one that identifies his current need. He interacts well within his foster family and changes around his present home do not appear to upset or distract him. David likes musical toys, animals, and to walk and play outdoors. David needs a family who is able to provide for his lifetime medical needs and be open to the challenges of his future. His family needs to be prepared to provide extensive support and assistance to David on a daily and regular basis. David's family needs to be prepared to give him a lot of praise and positive reinforcement. His family also needs to be able to be patiently yet consistently set up reasonable appropriate limits according to David's abilities.
