Ask Dawyne, who likes to be called DJ, his favorite hobbies and you might just get an earful. I like to skate, I like video games, basketball, riding my bike," he said recently, clutching his skateboard in his hands. Eagerly waiting his chance to take the board for a spin at the local skate park, DJ took a few minutes to share more about himself. "I also like to draw, he said, explaining that his favorite subjects are cars and trucks. " He's really a talented artist. He loves to color," added Sharon, DJ's foster mother.
During his free time at home, DJ loves putting together puzzles. The puzzles he enjoys aren't the wimpy 250 piece variety. DJ wants a little more challenge than that. He favors the puzzles with 1,000 pieces or more. " I really like puzzles," DJ said with a huge grin.
A sixth grader, DJ seems to really like school. He is a hardworking student whose favorite subjects include P.E, spelling and math. While DJ is doing well this year at school, he is academically behind his peers and will need a family able to advocate for his him when it comes to scholastics.
DJ is a boy with a sweet smile and a spunky personality who will be a great addition to adoptive family's home. He needs an experienced one or two parent family with caring and consistent parents who will be able to work with DJ to help him overcome social, behavioral and academic challenges. DJ needs a permanent forever family that is willing to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment where he can grow and reach his full potential.
