This is Destiney – a Caucasian pre-teen with a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. She is an energetic young lady with a lot of positive strengths. She loves animals and any activity that can be enjoyed outdoors. Her spirited conversational style and buoyant mannerisms sometimes present a challenge for her in maintaining her focus during conversations with others. Destiney really wants to experience a sense of belonging; separation from her birth family has been difficult for her. Her new family must have a good understanding of how a neglectful past impacts a child’s sense of trust and their ability to express their needs, desires, fears and aspirations without reservations. Destiney hopes to have a family that understands and values the strong attachment she has to her birth family and that grieving her losses will be challenging for her. In her current placement, Destiney has been involved in therapy and has developed a positive relationship with her foster family. A single or two parent patient family committed to providing Destiney with the security, safety, and consistent nurturing that she has missed in the past will best meet her needs. There is no doubt that this youngster will thrive in a loving, forever home environment with an active family, especially if they love the outdoors and have pets!
