Donnell is somewhat reserved, but he can be a sweet boy with a warm heart. He likes to watch cartoons, sports, and play video and computer games. Donnell also enjoys writing and has an exceptional talent for drawing. He says he would like to become an artist or scientist when he grows up.
Donnell attends an alternate school where, with the help of a personal assistant, he works on staying on task and keeping his conduct in compliance. He generally earns good grades and can do better when he is able to stay focused. Donnell needs to learn coping skills in handling frustrations and appropriate social skills in general. He needs to continue counseling to understand how his past affects his present and could impact his future. Donnell is working on always telling the truth and respecting what belongs to others.
Donnell needs an adoptive family that will continue his counseling and be vigil in keeping his medical appointments. They should be aware of and seek out whatever community services are available that might benefit him. Donnell needs a family that can provide him with a great deal of structure, stability, and clearly defined rules and consequences, and lots of love. They should also provide opportunities for Donnell to experience success and boost his self-esteem.
