Dontarian is a 14-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

If you like an occaional Big Mac and fries from McDonald's then take some time to get to know Dontarian. He also enjoys home cooked meals, and spaghetti and steak are two of his favorites. Dontarian is initially shy around new people but he is a very polite and likeable child once one gets to know him. He enjoys the attention he receives as the youngest child in a family. Dontarian can be a quiet child and he enjoys completing tasks independently. He has some difficulty trusting people but is open to getting to know others that he can trust. Dontarian feels more comfortable being affectionate towards others after it is first initiated by someone else. Dontarian interacts well with his foster parents and siblings. He does, at times exhibit behaviors that require close supervison. He may need additional assistance in order to stay on task at school. With constistent redirecting and teaching, Dontarian is able to get back on task both at school and in his foster home. He responds well to having a concrete calendar for his assignments, having consequences delivered immediately, and to a reward system. Dontarian is learning more appropriate ways to manage his behaviors, but is still in need of a consistent and routine schedule.

Dontarian's family needs to be prepared to provide a great deal of love, structure and close supervision. Dontarian would like to have a "mother and father." He may benefit from the presence of a strong male role model who will be able to help him understand and involve him in male oriented activities. Dontarian would also benefit from a mother who is nuturing and capable of consistently enforcing rules and consequenses. Dontarian would do best in a family where he could be the youngest child. He may also enjoy having neighborhood play mates. Dontarian's family would also need to help him become independent and trustworthy.
