A very caring child, Dustin is active, anxious to learn new things, and enjoys many activities including being outdoors, animals and sports. Dusty is very competitive with everything he does; he speaks his mind and is not afraid to tell someone when he does not agree with their decision. Generally, he enjoys school and does well; but he will need someone to advocate for his needs working closely with his support team and making sure he completes his work. In the past Dusty has been involved in camps and he really enjoys them.
Dusty is quite specific about the type of adoptive family situation he would like. He would like a two-parent family with an older and younger brother and sister where he is the middle child. He wants two cats and a dog. Since he has never been out of Iowa, he would like to travel. He would like to live in a nice house in a small town with fewer than 5,000 people and he would like a good school where he would have the opportunity to play football. Dusty has a very strong sense of family loyalty and is determined to maintain contact with his siblings.
Dusty has made tremendous progress in his foster home due to their consistency, but he continues to struggle with the grief and loss of his family and siblings. He will need ongoing services to address his anger management, coping skills and abuse issues. Dusty’s family will need to hold him accountable for his behaviors. Also, it would be best if Dusty could have some contact with his biological siblings.
