Description
Juan, Anita, and Elidia have made tremendous progress since coming into care. Juan, especially, has learned to leave the parenting to the adults and just be a boy. Due to taking a parental role with his sisters before coming into care, Juan is very mature and responsible for his age. He is easy going, compassionate, and has an innate ability to “read between the lines.” Juan is quite sociable and gets along well with other kids, both at home and in school. He likes to be helpful around the house and is learning to do laundry. He would especially like to improve his cooking skills. Juan loves to play action video games and read interactive stories where the reader makes choices along the way to determine the outcome of the story. He enjoys playing kickball and would like to be on a soccer team or participate in karate. Juan attends regular classes at school where he works very hard to earn good grades. His goal is to make the A/B honor roll every grading period this year. Counseling is helping him deal with his feelings of loss, learning to be a child, and looking forward to adoption. Juan has no behavior issues and is respectful and mannerly. Anita is a beautiful little girl with thick black hair and big brown eyes. She has a very healthy appetite and enjoys most foods, especially sweets. Anita is a sweet and loving child with a gentle heart whose feelings are easily hurt. She is somewhat of a loner, and usually prefers to play by herself or spend time just enjoying another person’s company without a lot of activity. Anita likes to play with Bratz and Barbie dolls and all of their accessories. She loves curling up to watch movies, laugh and tell funny stories, and help out in the kitchen whenever possible. Juanita attends regular classes at school where she has greatly improved her reading skills. She recently made the A/B honor roll and was rewarded with participating in a special field trip. Juanita has no behavior issues at school, aside from occasionally talking out of turn. Counseling is helping her through her feelings of loss, understanding her feelings of wanting to be alone, and preparing for adoption. Elidia is a sweet, loving child with long black hair and beautiful dark eyes. She is extremely independent and wants to do everything for herself. Elidia loves to give hugs and cuddle. She usually listens well and follows direction with little redirection. She enjoys playing with her baby and Barbie dolls and all the accessories that go with them. Elidia has a little radio and she likes to listen to music and dance to silly songs. She loves playing with her brother and sister and wants to do everything they do. Playing outside and riding her bicycle with training wheels, or chasing and being chased are Elidia’s other favorite activities. She wants to be Cinderella when she grows up. Elidia attends daycare and has learned to count, say her ABC’s, and recognize shapes and colors. She gets along very well in daycare and at her foster home. Juan and Anita are excited about a forever family, but Elidia is too young to understand the concept of adoption. Juan wants to be sure they have an adoptive family that he trusts to love and take good care of him and his sisters. Anita wants to either bring her Cocker Spaniel with her, or be allowed to have a dog. Elidia, especially, will need a slow and compassionate transition, as she has been in the same home for longer than she can remember. These three wonderful children need what all children need and deserve: structure, stability, consistency, and a great deal of attention. They must feel wanted, cared for, and safe.
