Eric is a 7-year-old boy from Virginia who is hoping to be adopted.

Say hello to Eric, a very special little boy who needs a very special family to step forward and make a commitment to be there for him forever. Eric is quite the little entertainer; he loves to pretend that he is singing or preaching and will use his hands or objects as a microphone. Eric has faced many challenges and requires support with his developmental, cognitive, physical, and educational needs. He communicates by repeating learned phrases or words, vocalizations, gestures, facial expressions and/or physical contact. He eats independently, needing only minimal intervention, usually to cut some foods into bite-size portions and to monitor portion intake. He can assist with some dressing skills like unzipping and taking off his jacket. Because he has lived most of his life with one foster family, it will be extremely difficult for Eric to separate from them. An extensive period of visitation will be required for him to make an adjustment into a different environment, and his new family must understand that getting to know Eric will take a lot of patience and time on their part. Eric is a youngster who must rely on his family’s ability to provide a nurturing, safe and stable home environment with a lot of supervision, advocate strongly on his behalf, know how to reach out for support when needed, and be a permanent part of his life.
