Photolisting Profile for Jacob

Jacob is a 2-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Jacob is a precious little boy. Jacob has developmental delays. He requires multiple medications daily, meals through a feeding tube, and multiple therapies. The family must provide all care for Jacob as he is not able to provide any self-care. Jacob is making some improvements in his placement. He is gaining some control over his head movements. He has been smiling a lot lately and seems to be showing more alertness and reaction to others than he has previously. When placed on the floor next to another child, Jacob will reach for and touch the other child. He seems to sense when others are near, and enjoys the closeness. Jacob is often sleepy during the day from his medications, but he is also a pretty talented child. He often keeps his eyes closed during therapy sessions, although there will be other indications (such as physical responses) that he is awake. Jacob has been diagnosed with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and cortical visual impairment. Jacob is under the care of four physicians- a pediatrician, neurologist, GI specialist, and physical medicine rehabilitation specialist. Jacob recieves physical therapy and speech therapy 2x/week, and occupational therapy 3x/week. ECI visits 2x/month, Jacob also receives vision therapy through the local school. Visit me at the TARE Gallery.

Jacob will need a family who is open to and capable of providing care for him 24/7. They will need to be willing to ensure that he continues to receive appropriate therapies and be comfortable having numerous professionals in their home and lives on a frequent basis. They will need to understand that it is impossible to know what the future holds for Jacob- whether he will ever gain the ability to interact with others and care for himself in any manner, or whether or not he will even survive into adulthood. They will need to be prepared to love Jacob and provide the best environment and experience possible for Jacob.
