Although Jacoby is functioning far behind other children his age, he is very aware of his surroundings and is able to ask and answer intelligent questions. Jacoby is a child who requires repetitive commands from adults in order to comply. Jacoby can be shy upon introduction. He will not readily engage in conversation. Jacoby can become very attached to others when he has developed a trust. He requires a smaller class setting in school where his needs can be met. He is an average student in his academic setting. Jacoby will adapt best in an environment where there are fewer children and a lot of structure. He is able to develop peer relationship and get along with others. Jacoby would do well in a household that has a strong male role model who is actively involved in the parenting of the children in the home. He needs to be in a very loving and encouraging family environment. The family needs to have some skills in advocating for children in need of special consideration in the school setting. It is preferred that the family has training and/or skills to deal with his needs. Jacoby would flourish best in a home with no or very few children. The household should be very structured to provide a stable and consistent environment for Jacoby.
