These three children all enjoy playing basketball with neighborhood children and riding their bikes in the cul-du-sac. They are good kids who need a loving, nurturing, and permanent home together. Jasmine is known as “everyone’s alarm clock” because she consistently wakes up so early. She is a friendly and sensitive girl who enjoys helping her foster mom out with the new baby and household chores. Jasmine is appreciative, affectionate, and one of those children that everyone who meets her, loves. She has recently shown an interest in her femininity and doing “girly” things like having her hair fixed and wearing jewelry. She recently had her ears pierced and has done a great job of taking care of them. Jasmine enjoys singing in the church choir and taking family trips. She attends specialized classes for Life Skills where the focus is on repetition of instructions for basic daily living needs. Jasmine is learning to care for her personal hygiene, cook, do laundry, and grocery shop. Her teachers adore her and enjoy having her in their classes. James is one of those people who, once you meet him, you never forget him. He has a sweet, innocent, and endearing personality. He is bubbly and active with a contagious smile and bright eyes. James loves informing everyone of what his daily menu has been. His biggest strength is his incredible memory and knack for remember people’s names and events. James likes to be the father figure and help out at home. He is also a very funny kid who loves to make people laugh. James attends specialized classes at school where he has made a dramatic transformation. He has blossomed into the role of leader and functions at the top of his class. James is always helpful to other students, as well as to his teachers. He reads exceptionally well, but does not comprehend what he reads. Jamal is definitely the baby of his siblings and enjoys the role very much. His foster mom says he is a sweet and loving child and a joy to parent. Jamal can be somewhat shy at times, but he is also spunky and can be a mischievous instigator. He recently learned to ride his bike without training wheels and loves riding with his big brother. Jamal and James also enjoy playing with toy cars. Jamal has enjoyed participating in karate and earned a yellow belt. Jamal attends special resource classes where has had made tremendous progress. He was retained in kindergarten to allow him to catch up sufficiently to be on target with what he should comprehend. Jasmine, James, and Jamal have done very well in their current foster home. Their foster mom pays attention to what each child needs and requires to be successful and feel good about themselves, and what type of discipline or redirection is most effective. These are affectionate, well-mannered, and friendly children. They deserve an adoptive family that provides them with structure, consistency, support, and clear expectations with appropriate consequences.
