Jasmin is an affectionate and very confident little girl. She has a wonderfully positive outlook and excellent coping skills. Jasmin enjoys swimming, riding her bike, taking ballet lessons, and reading. She also likes to be artistic and "make designs". Jasmin plans to become a ballerina or a model when she grows up. Jasmin is extremely proud of herself for working hard during the summer. She was tutored to accomplish the reading skills she needed to go into first grade and she was able to do so. Jasmin is now an excellent reader. She has also done very well with counseling and at this point, no longer needs to attend. Sequan is a kind, loving, and compassionate little boy with a million dollar smile. He loves to show how much he cares by talking and hugging. Sequan expresses himself very well and has a special way with words. He enjoys playing with trains and video games, and absolutely loves homemade spaghetti. Sequan enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and football and dreams of becoming a professional football player. With some preparation and assistance from his daycare teacher, Sequan was ready for kindergarten. He attends a regular class and there are no concerns about his behavior at school or at home. Sequan has successfully transitioned out of counseling with a positive outlook. An adoptive family for Sequan should receive training in separation and loss issues. By providing him with the structure, support, love, and stability that all children need and thrive on, his adoptive family will surely benefit from the joy Sequan will bring. An adoptive family for Jasmin should be totally committed and be flexible enough in their schedules to ensure that she attends all of her medical appointments and takes the medication for her life-threatening illness. They should be patient, loving, and aware of her special needs. Adoptive parents for Jasmin should receive training in birth family connections, as well as separation and loss issues. They will need to be positive about working with her to continue her reading ability and encourage her to keep trying with all of her subjects.
