Keilani is a 15-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Keilani is a fun loving and mellow child. She enjoys watching television, swimming and using the computer. She has expressed an interest in learning how to cook and really enjoys family meals. Keilani likes to attend church where she participates in age appropriate activities. While she prefers indoor action, she enjoys family outings to parks and recreational centers. At first, Keilani may appear shy when meeting someone, but she will socialize when she feels at ease. She is able to express her fears, concerns and emotions once she is in a comfortable setting. She is active and says physical education is her favorite class at school. She does her homework and has an hour of study time every day. Keilani interacts appropriately with adults and peers, and is generally honest and cooperative. She enjoys hanging out with friends, dressing up, using makeup, and painting her nails. She also likes going shopping, and occasionally outdoor play. Sometimes Keilani tends to antagonize peers on purpose. She is working on reigning in this behavior. She is also working on being more polite and cooperative. Occasionally when frustrated, she may retreat and not want to talk to anyone, and sometimes she may be disruptive in class and leave without permission. She is learning to observe rules, and mind authority figures. Visit Keilani at the Heart Gallery of San Antonio.

Keilani's family must provide a structured and nurturing home environment. She enjoys being the center of attention and will expect her new family to allow her that luxury. Her family must provide an environment in which Keilani feels safe and secure if she is to establish a trusting relationship. Also, she will need a routine and parents who can be consistent in all practices. She will also need to learn limits and boundaries. She will do well as a single child or as the youngest child in the home.
