Her social worker likes that she doesn’t complain, doesn’t get angry, and likes to talk. Kelley enjoys playing with her Playstation, solving puzzle and word games, and making jewelry and other crafts. Kelley attends a specialized classroom that is designed to meet her needs. She likes school and tries to do her best. With a specialized education plan in effect to help her be the most successful she can be, Kelley does pretty well. Being a teenager, Kelley’s behavior is not always appropriate, but she does apologize when she has had time to process why. Change is difficult for her, so explaining what she can expect is always a positive thing for her. Speech therapy has helped Kelley work on improving her verbal communication skills. Kelley is a likable young girl who has experienced multiple losses in her life. An adoptive family for Kelley must understand her medical, emotional, and psychological needs and be willing to make sure they are met. They will need to be able to help Kelley live as independently as she can within the limits of her capacity and be advocates for her for the rest of her life.
