Photolisting Profile for Kenny S

Kenny S is a 14-year-old boy from Maine who is hoping to be adopted.

Kenny is a handsome boy who likes to please those around him. He enjoys biking, camping, swimming, fishing, ice skating and doing family activities, such as arts and crafts. Kenny also really likes to play with his legos. Kenny and his brother came into DHHS custody in September 2003 due to abuse and neglect in his birth home. Kenny values one on one attention from care providers. He often seeks reassurance from the adults around him that he is being a “good boy”. Kenny has difficulty at times getting along with peers. He does best with eyes on supervision due to his aggressive and impulsive behaviors. Kenny has learned some positive coping skills and is now learning to stop and think to use the skills he has learned. However, Kenny’s low tolerance for frustration gets in the way of him being to access those skills at times. Kenny is in a day treatment school for academics. He attends a full day of schooling. The day treatment facility helps Kenny remain focused, as he can be easily distracted with schoolwork. Kenny’s family will need to work with the school to make sure his educational needs are being met. Kenny would do best in an experienced two-parent family who will remain committed to him. Kenny has contact with his brother and it is essential that this continue. Kenny needs a loving family who will provide him with structure and routine and encourage his potential, while recognizing his limitations. Kenny has said he would like a dad who would take him fishing. Adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family. Interested families should contact, Erin Dennis, 35 Anthony Ave., Augusta, ME 04333 or call (207) 624-8088 or 1-800-452-1926 (in state).
