Photolisting Profile for Kevin
Kevin is a 11-year-old boy from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Kevin is a very happy child who enjoys interaction and attention from others. Kevin was born with a rare genetic disorder called Smith-Lemli Optiz Syndrome. This syndrome is caused by a defect in cholesterol synthesis. It has caused abnormalities that have limited Kevin's ability to talk and walk. Kevin has a wheelchair that he uses to move about. He is not verbal, but has a beautiful enticing smile that says it all! Kevin loves to laugh and play. Kevin also wears braces on both of his legs and he uses special equipment that allows him to be able to move his legs. He cannot take steps without it. Kevin seems to enjoy the mobility and freedom that his wheelchair and this special equipment give him. Kevin enjoys being placed on the floor where he can explore, bounce and scoot around. He does wear a protective helmet when he is exploring to protect him because he is very unstable. Kevin is also tube fed. He is currently participating in physical and occupational therapy. Despite Kevin's physical limitations, he is very affectionate and has a wonderful personality. When he is picked up, he pats you on the back. He can play by himself for hours but gets a real kick out of interacting with others regardless of their age. Kevin will be a wonderful addition to a family who is able to accept his limitations and stimulate him to reach his potential. Visit me at the TARE Gallery.
Kevin will need a family able to provide him with the structure and supervision that he needs. The family should be able to accept his limitations and show him the love and constant affection that he needs. He will need 24-hour supervision and someone who is familiar and comfortable with his medical needs.
