Lateria is a 14-year-old girl from Tennessee who is hoping to be adopted.
Lateria is interested in music and enjoys playing sports. She has the academic potential to attend college, but needs parental encouragement to improve her school performance. Lateria has some health issues that require strict adherence to her diet and medication schedule. Lateria has a good sense of humor and she likes to feel independent. She requires close supervision for her safety, as well as her health, but would like to earn more freedom as she grows more responsible for her well-being. She is somewhat shy around adults, but quickly becomes the “funny one” in a group of peers. She has had some difficulties with focusing on her school work due to her peer attention seeking behaviors at school. She is respectful of authority figures, but occasionally requires time alone to think things through after any form of confrontation. “Lateria has great potential, she’s smart and can make great grades if she applies herself. She doesn’t like being in foster care and needs a family that can help her with her health issues and take her places and support her desire to play sports. She recently joined a co-ed football team and enjoys being part of a team. She doesn’t allow anyone to intimidate her when she plays sports.” Lateria requires a family that understands her health issues and is willing to work with her on taking good care of her health. She would benefit from a two parent home with older siblings or a single Mom with a good support system to help with Lateria’s desire to play sports and her supervision. Lateria has said she’d like to be in a large family with lots going on. She does not like being the focus of constant attention by adults, but she continues to learn to manage her health without total supervision.Disclaimer
